THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD

Download: The Baptism of the Lord

View From A Pew

Today’s reading reveals a very touching moment, I feel, before the start of Jesus’ full ministry begins, when God publicly declares his love, the love of a Father for His Son. Here we see God’s presence and love incarnate made visible in the form of a dove. Here the hectic, exhilarating and yes frightening mission is set in motion. This is confirmed by the presence of God and of The Holy Spirit and by the acceptance of The son. The Trinity revealed and complete.

Notices

S. Werburgh’s Day

The Patronal Festival of S. Werburgh will be kept on Thursday 3rd February, beginning with Solemn Vespers on Wednesday 2nd February followed by a DCC meeting looking to the future mission of that part of the parish. On S. Werburgh’s day itself there will be a sung mass at 7pm, followed by refreshments. Please do encourage family, friends and neighbours to join us for this celebration – let’s give this parish the reputation of throwing great parties and celebrations!

Buddy Scheme

Many of us will have noticed in this time since we returned to public worship that some of our brothers and sisters have not yet felt comfortable returning to church. We would really like to encourage you to keep anyone who lives near you and who has not returned, up to date on what is going on. If you think you could help by calling on a neighbour or dropping off a pewsheet, that would be a great way to encourage people and to help remind them they have not been forgotten.
