On Saturday 26th September at 5pm in Lichfield Cathedral, our Curate (elect) Glen Thomas will be ordained to the diaconate.
Glen moved in the Diocese in June during the lock-down, and because of this, his and all Petertide ordinations were postponed until this coming weekend (otherwise known as Michaelmas). However, his ministry did start once he was licensed as a Lay Minister on 27th June by Bishop Michael.
Glen’s role in church services will unfold further once he is ordained. As Deacon, Glen will be able to baptise, perform weddings and funerals, assist Fr Andrew at the Altar for the Eucharist and go about a myriad of other ministerial duties.
Because of ongoing restrictions and social distancing, the ordination will be a somewhat low-key affair insofar that Glen will only be permitted 2 guests. To counter, this Lichfield Diocese are kindly streaming all ordinations so the full service can be viewed online.
