Jesus knew that the disciples must have had questions asked of them regarding who he was. No doubt though they would only have passed on to him complimentary comments, though they themselves still seem hesitant and confused. So when Jesus asked them pointedly who they thought he was and what was his mission it is only ‘feet first’ Peter who replies “You are the Messiah”. This acceptance by Peter shaped his life from then on and ultimately his death. Being a Christian is all about acceptance and remembering who we are named after and trying to follow his example… Not easy.

Return to normality
We are delighted to be returning to a semblance of normality, however it is important to ensure that we are not only safe but also feel safe. For many this will be a particularly stressful time, to that end certain precautions will be retained.
- We encourage the continued use of face coverings when church is particularly busy. Perhaps wearing a face covering to enter and leave and only removing it when you are seated would be a way of making every feel comfortable.
- Communal singing returns but on a limited basis, if you feel safer singing with a face covering on you are welcome to do so.
- In order to facilitate singing physical distancing measures between pews or rows of seats remains in place.
- Holy Communion will continue to be offered only in one kind.
- Refreshments will begin to be served again at S. Werburgh’s and Holy Trinity where there is adequate space, however, for the time being at S. Saviour’s it will be a case of bring your own!
DCCs
S. Saviour’s DCC meets on Monday evening at 7pm in Church.
Holy Trinity DCC meets on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Church Hall.
PCC
Would members of the PCC please let Fr Andrew know which days and times are most convenient for you so that we can arrange a PCC meeting.
Special Meeting
The Registry has finally sorted the paperwork out relating to the M34/5 Scheme which officially sets up the DCCs, this scheme (which was provisionally approved at the APCM) needs to be voted on by a Special Parish Meeting – a date will be published shortly!

Confession
Preparation for receiving Holy Communion at Mass is one of the most important things we can do, to worthily receive Christ in the Sacrament should be of the highest priority. Exactly how you will prepare yourself is a matter for your own conscience; however, you are encouraged not to take the Sacrament for granted, some will recall how in former times the priest celebrating the Holy Communion service from the Book of Common Prayer would give the congregation forewarning of when he intended to next celebrate the Sacrament so that they could adequately prepare themselves. In more recent times it has been noticed that the line for Communion gets longer whilst the line for Confession gets shorter. Don’t forget that the confessional is always here for you, not as a courtroom and place of judgment but as a hospital and well-spring of Divine Grace. If you would like to make an appointment to make a confession or to simply have a conversation to help prepare you for Communion please do speak to Fr Andrew, otherwise he is available to hear confessions on:
- Mondays at 5.30pm (S. Saviour)
- Wednesdays at 5.30pm (S. Werburgh)
- Fridays at 5.30pm (Holy Trinity)
