All Saints’ Day

View From A Pew

I am sure that most of us are familiar with ‘The Beatitudes’ probably one of the most loved passages of Matthew’s Gospel. On All Saint’s Day in 2016 while visiting Sweden, Pope Francis set out what he described as ” A suggested list of Modern Beatitudes ” which confronted his concerns both for the environment and ecumenism, saying that we are called blessed to be followers of Jesus, and to confront the troubles and anxieties of our age with the spirit and love of Jesus. So here they are.

1) “Blessed are those who remain faithful while enduring evils inflicted on them by others and forgive them from their heart”
2) “Blessed are those who look into the eyes of the abandoned and marginalized and show them their closeness”
3) “Blessed are those who see God in every person and strive to make others discover him.”
4) “Blessed are those who protect and care for our common home.”
5) “Blessed are those who renounce their own comfort in order to help others.”
6) “Blessed are those who pray and work for full communion between Christians.”
