FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
If you hear someone wish you a Happy New Year this Sunday, you have not been mistaken; Advent has begun! It is the beginning of the new liturgical year in Western Christianity, and Advent is the season of preparation for the Nativity of Christ at Christmas.
The season of Christmas starts on 25th December and runs, like many other Christian festivals, for 40 days until Candlemas (2nd February). Retailers often confuse the dates of the Christmas season by beginning preparations as early as September but then end the season on Boxing Day!
Why not come to our Advent Course starting Thursday 1st December, 7pm, at S. Saviour to find out more about Christmas; the second most important festival of the liturgical calendar…
