24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

How often have you heard someone say “I can forgive but I can’t forget”? You have probably said it yourself I know I have. Often not ‘forgetting’ means that you are still hurting. Forgetting is harder to practise than to preach. Sometimes it just keeps niggling at you. But letting go is as much for our own benefit I have found as it is for the other person’s otherwise you keep carrying the pain of the hurt with you for ever. The question is do we really need to totally forgive and forget and I suppose the short answer is “Yes” because WE want / hope to be totally forgiven at the final reckoning. Jesus’ words from the cross were “Father forgive them” and his was a hurt much, much, more than any of us will, hopefully, ever experience. So, with this in mind, my message to my sometimes slow to ‘forget’ self is, remember Jesus.

DCC Meetings
These are what were the PCCs before the new Team formed. There will also be a meeting of the new PCC which will held shortly. Before the end of October we have to hold the APCMs for each church and for the new parish. I appreciate that will be lot of meetings and voting because we will need to elect a new PCC and Wardens (to cover the whole Team) as well as anything that needs to be done in each church.

Friday 18th September – Holy Trinity – 6.30pm
APCM dates will be announced shortly but will be held towards the end of October
ORDINATION
We are delighted to announce that Glen will be ordained deacon (DV) on Saturday 26th September at 5pm in Lichfield Cathedral.
CONFIRMATION
Bishop Jonathan will be coming to the Team to confirm on Sunday 22nd November, Christ the King. There will therefore be only one Parish Mass that day, at 11am in S. Werburgh’s in order to best accommodate everyone!
Please note that Fr Andrew’s usual day of rest is Saturday and Glen’s is Monday. Please try to avoid contacting them on their respective days off.
