FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
View from a Pew
Is there a difference between being ‘chosen’ and being ‘invited’? Invited seems to imply the option of politely declining I think. As far as Amos was concerned he had been ‘chosen’ by God to be a prophet, so for him it was far more than a mere invitation. Similarly, Paul asserts that “Before the world was made God chose us.” Did Jesus ‘choose’ or ‘invite his disciples to follow him? Did any decline I wonder. To be chosen is a privilege but we may ask ourselves why we would be singled out for such an honour, or even wonder what will be involved and are we up to it. After all being chosen brings with it responsibilities and demands and holds no promise of an easy ride. God chose to be OUR God, and Jesus, by His example invites us to take up His cross and follow Him whatever the cost of acceptance.

Notices
Compline
There will be no zoom Compline this evening, it will return for what we believe will be a last hurrah next Sunday.
S. Saviour’s DCC
S. Saviour’s DCC will meet on Monday 19th July at 7pm, in Church.
Return to normality
We await final confirmation on Monday of the proposed relaxation of restrictions. Whatever they say we want to ensure that our return to normality is safe. For many this will be a nervous time and we need to provide a balance; it is assumed that face coverings will no longer be mandatory, however some people may still wish to wear them, for some distancing will remain important, we will also continue to provide sanitizer for use on entry and before Communion.
As we re-enter the world of normality please respect the choices of our brothers and sisters, Church should and must be a place where all feel welcomed and safe.
