Is it just me or are the readings actually getting harder at this time of the church year? What would you rather be, rich, wise or hopeful of a place in Heaven? The rich man had led a ‘good’ life, he may already have helped others, but to be told to give it all away… No wonder the disciples were once again confused it seems, they after all had given up everything to follow Jesus. I think it is about not measuring everything only by earthly values. Still being mere humans we can only do our best. For most people that will not mean to the extent of giving everything away, but if we do what we can when or where we see a need the hopefully that will count for something. As we have seen before trying to be a Christian does not come easy.

Return to normality
We are delighted to be returning to a semblance of normality, and that hitherto things seem reasonably stable. With that in mind we will now sing two hymns, at the beginning and the end of mass (this means you get to sing more without the clergy worrying about getting on to the next service). We continue to hope and pray that come Advent and the beginning of a new liturgical year we will be singing the Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus as before. We will also be reviewing guidance on the sharing of the common chalice and the peace as we approach the new year as well.
Holy Trinity Dedication Festival
Friday 19th November at 7.30pm
For the first time since the pandemic began we shall be able to celebrate this great day, both properly and as a whole Team. Please make every effort to join the celebration, invite friends and neighbours. There will be a bring and share time of fellowship afterwards – sign up with what food you might be able to contribute – there will as usual also be plenty of beers and wines to wash it all down.
This year our guest preacher will be Fr Grant Naylor, a contemporary of Fr Andrew at seminary and the vicar of S. Matthew’s Carver Street in Sheffield, a church famed for its drive in catholic mission and which has just launched a Regenerate project aiming to raise £700,000 to sustain S. Matthew’s place in the city of Sheffield.
Special Meeting
The Registry has finally sorted the paperwork out relating to the M34/5 Scheme which officially sets up the DCCs, this scheme (which was provisionally approved at the APCM) needs to be voted on by a Special Parish Meeting – a date will be published shortly!
Bible Study
Across the churches a desire for a bible study group has been expressed. This would be a good thing to do together as we grow in fellowship and discipleship. The clergy will lead these but we wonder if others would be prepared to host the group in their homes? It would be good to have several venues in different places on rotation to enable as many people as possible to participate.
Singing Group
The singing group at Holy Trinity has restarted! All are welcome from any of our churches, to learn new mass settings, practice the hymns, and generally engage in fellowship – especially in the run up to the Dedication Festival on November 19th.
Every other Thursday at 7.30pm in Holy Trinity – next on 14th.

Confession
Preparation for receiving Holy Communion at Mass is one of the most important things we can do, to worthily receive Christ in the Sacrament should be of the highest priority. Exactly how you will prepare yourself is a matter for your own conscience; however, you are encouraged not to take the Sacrament for granted, some will recall how in former times the priest celebrating the Holy Communion service from the Book of Common Prayer would give the congregation forewarning of when he intended to next celebrate the Sacrament so that they could adequately prepare themselves. In more recent times it has been noticed that the line for Communion gets longer whilst the line for Confession gets shorter. Don’t forget that the confessional is always here for you, not as a courtroom and place of judgment but as a hospital and well-spring of Divine Grace. If you would like to make an appointment to make a confession or to simply have a conversation to help prepare you for Communion please do speak to Fr Andrew, otherwise he is available to hear confessions on:
