Several Gospel stories tell of the anxiety of losing things, a coin, a lost sheep etc., personally I always try St Anthony though I have never lost a sheep! But today’s Gospel is I think a good choice for Mothering Sunday as it mirrors the joy that God must experience when one of His children returns ‘home’. Surely many families suffer the misery when siblings fall out and usually it is the mother who bears the brunt of this unhappiness and who is left to heal the rift, in her impartial love for each of her children. Such was the joy of the father in this story to see his beloved child come home and his effort to bring the brothers together again. Such also is God’s love that, even when we hurt Him He always welcomes us back into the fold of His love.

Refugees
As the war in Ukraine continues, and as many of us continue to be horrified by it please do consider whether you are able to put yourselves forward for the Government scheme to offer space in your homes to those fleeing the carnage. Hospitality and welcome are basic tenets of the Faith, especially towards the outcast, the widow, and the orphan, whilst today’s refugees are Ukrainian, tomorrow’s could be your family or loved ones.
Civic Prayer Breakfast
LAST CALL – The Civic Prayer Breakfast returns to the calendar again this year. In the past this has been a great event and an opportunity to meet with other Christians from a range of traditions to be encouraged and supported and to pray together for our city. The prayer breakfast takes place on Friday at the King’s Hall in Stoke, doors open at 7am for a prompt 7.30am start. Tickets are still £10 for a cooked breakfast, please see Fr Andrew for more details.
Walsingham Pilgrimage
It would be really good to be able to book our pilgrimage to Walsingham for this year, if you could sign up on the sheets at the back we’ll be able to finalise costs and make bookings.
