We actually have two sinners in today’s readings, the woman caught in adultery and Paul. Paul, while still Saul, persecuted and pursued Christians, and indeed was present at the stoning of Stephen. The very last person you would think to be chosen, forgiven and used by God, and yet he was. And the case of the woman caught in adultery, being used as another test to catch Jesus out, what would be his verdict on this obvious sinner? What would be her atonement? “Sin no more” she was told, Jesus recognising the sin, making the woman recognise the sin, but forgiving the sinner. As Paul says “Let go of the past and try harder in the future” Encouraging words and a reminder to look inward before outwardly condemning.

Refugees
As the war in Ukraine continues, and as many of us continue to be horrified by it please do consider whether you are able to put yourselves forward for the Government scheme to offer space in your homes to those fleeing the carnage. Hospitality and welcome are basic tenets of the Faith, especially towards the outcast, the widow, and the orphan, whilst today’s refugees are Ukrainian, tomorrow’s could be your family or loved ones.
2021 Accounts

It would be really good to be able to book our pilgrimage to Walsingham for this year, if you could sign up on the sheets at the back we’ll be able to finalise costs and make bookings.
Resolution under the House of Bishops’ Declaration
You may recall some years ago each PCC resolved to petition the Bishop of Lichfield for Alternative Episcopal Oversight from the Bishop of Ebbsfleet on the grounds of theological conviction surrounding the ordination of women to the priesthood and episcopate. With the formation of the Team Ministry a new parish was created and we have been advised that this new Parish needs to vote on such a resolution. A Statement of Need has been published today, please do express you views to current members of the PCC and those standing for election at the APCM. It will be for the new PCC to vote towards the end of May.
