Sunday 6th December 2020 – Advent 2

Sunday 6th December 2020 – Advent 2

Welcome! We look forward to welcoming you in person to one of the three churches in the North Potteries Team. We understand that the second national lockdown, whilst shorter and easier in many ways than the first, was still a very difficult time for many. If during this period of confinement you need any assistance please get in touch with Fr Andrew or Fr Glen and they will do what they can to assist you. Likewise if you would simply like someone to talk to about anything at all they are available so please do get in touch and they will make time for you. If you are able to do so can we please encourage you to continue to put donations in your envelopes or to make donations to the churches online.

Today’s readings continue the theme of waiting and preparing. We know where Advent is leading us to, in a sense we know the end of the story, we know that we are preparing for. Christmas. But really is it not an ending but rather a beginning of something truly wonderful, as all births are? Can we use Advent as a time not only of anticipation and preparation but of resolution to review our stewardship of our world and care for it as a fitting place where a baby can be safely born. If this pandemic has shown anything it is how poorly we are prepared for the unexpected. And how careless we are with the precious, perfect world that we were given. Or, as many an ‘end of term report’ states, “Could do better.”
